Its population density is 257.4 inhabitants/km². It is the parish seat of the county and the most rural. Here you will find some of the most important natural spaces in the city. The whole parish is of extraordinary beauty. Enchanting landscapes spread everywhere. One of its most interesting points is Chã da Marcela, which houses a small forest park with an extensive area. There grow several plant species, some endemic (laurel, queiró, heather, cedar of the bush, grape of the mountain) and others brought from outside the island, such as araucarias, cryptomerias, cedars, acacia and pinetrees. There is also a snack park. Another point of extraordinary interest is the viewpoint of Lagoa do Fogo. The road that gives you access allows the appreciation of the entire south and north coast of the island of S. Miguel.
